Creating A Membership Site From Your Blog

There are a lot of ways to turn a blog into something a little more special - and hopefully more lucrative too. One of the least well understood means of doing this is to set up a membership website on the blog. Although it is not so well understood, it is definitely worth looking into, for if you do it right it could provide you with a steady and profound source of income, and without you even having to do much work. You might also hopefully be able to create something useful for people which they can use - some kind of tool which could be something they recommend to friends and family. So how do you actually go about creating a membership site from your blog, and what concerns should you be thinking about? Let’s take a look.

User First
Remember that you are creating something useful for your customers, first and foremost, and as such you should think about doing everything with the user in mind. The more that you approach this in a user-first manner, the more likely it is that you will have great success, and happy customers along the way. There are a lot of things you can do to make sure that you are putting the users first. One of the essentials here is to make sure that you are using some kind of a user provisioning system. If you take a look at https://www.templafy.com/blog/what-is-user-provisioning/ you will see what we mean by that. However you do it, providing for the users first and foremost is the way to ensure that your membership site becomes more and more popular.

Offer A Free Version
People want to know that they are actually paying for something useful, and because of that you need to know how to entice them in. The best way to do this is to create a free version of the site and a membership version. Then it’s just a case of making as many people as possible sign up for the free version, so that they can see how wonderful the site is, and then hopefully they will want to pay for the full, subscriber-only version. Of course, the free version will not and should not have all of the features of the full version, and you should be clever in how you pick and choose your elements here. Get that right, and you will find that you get a lot of people ultimately signing up to your membership option.

Offer Money Back

The free trial works very well, and it’s no surprise that so many businesses make money this way. If you offer a free trial of the full version, you are giving people a chance to witness what they are missing. You will find that this effectively and reliably translates into more and more subscribers further down the line - and it is easy enough to do. Plus, if you make a point of offering money back on a membership at any time, you will encourage more people while also being more honest with your business.
